Lately we’ve seen an unusual amount of damage in freight shipments, so here are 3 shipping tips to help your product arrive in good shape.

1. Use corner protectors and size them right

Corner protectors not only save the corners of your cartons but also guard against shrink wrap that’s wound too tight. Make sure they extend just above the top box, but not much higher. We’ve seen taller corners bend over and damage the box underneath.

2. Consider weight when stacking the skid

It seems obvious, but we’ve seen the bottom layer damaged on skids that were stacked too high. Think about how heavy your product is before deciding how many layers to stack. A skid that’s too tall can crush the cartons on the bottom.

3. Get photos before the skid ships

Ask your supplier to photograph each skid before it leaves. If something goes wrong in transit, like dirt or water damage, those pictures will make filing a claim much easier.

A little prep up front can save a lot of trouble down the road. Hope these 3 shipping tips help prevent an issue for you. Happy shipping!
